A foundation of best practices education and reputable programs are at the core of this industry.  Strides made over the last 30 years have resulted in the U.S. pork industry producing the highest quality, safest and most affordable pork in the world -- and in our nation's history. This has been achieved through responsible pork production and ongoing improvement in the industry's practices focusing on food quality and safety, animal well-being, the environment and animal science. 
 

PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES

Many checks are in place, and consistently used, to ensure proper, safe and humane practices. These include federal and state oversight, as well as strict standards promoted heavily by the industry itself. Two programs that best demonstrate producer commitment to best practices are Pork Quality Assurance Plus and Transport Quality Assurance.
