To ensure best practices in key areas such as food safety, animal care and environmental stewardship, pork producers comply with applicable federal, state and local regulations. The industry has gone further, however, by instituting and vigorously promoting education programs to bolster and consistently advocate for ethical practices in all areas of pork production.
For more than 20 years, pork producers and production employees all across our nation have taken part in these best practices education programs because they believe that continuous improvement and responsible farming is just the right thing to do.
PROGRAMS AND PRACTICES

Many checks are in place, and consistently used, to ensure proper, safe and humane practices. These include federal and state oversight, as well as strict standards promoted heavily by the industry itself. Two programs that best demonstrate producer commitment to best practices are Pork Quality Assurance Plus and Transport Quality Assurance.
